Assemblyman Will Barclay reminded farmers of new grant monies available for innovative, emerging farms and the deadline for applications is Jan. 28.
Barclay supported putting $1 million in the 2014-2015 state budget to fund the program.
Eligible farms must be 150 acres or less and embrace inventive, sustainable agricultural techniques.
Up to $50,000 is available for new and existing small farms that have been in business for less than 10 years and that operate on less than 150 acres.
“Agribusiness is a critical component of our community’s continued success,” said Barclay. “This program is an excellent opportunity for new farmers to jump-start their careers or enable existing farmers to start a new crop. It is gratifying to see our advocacy on behalf of the agricultural community bear fruit.”
The deadline to apply for the beneficial grant is January 28.
