30 years ago, victim service providers and survivors of domestic violence launched a nationwide effort to raise awareness of the epidemic of domestic violence. Over the last three decades, much progress has been made to support domestic violence victims and survivors, to hold abuser accountable, and to create and update legislation to further those goals.
Oswego County youth and families are invited to celebrate the autumn season at the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau’s Hollis Harvest. The free event runs from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 14 at Camp Hollis in Oswego Town.
The Oswego County Historical Society proudly presents a Classic Movie Night event in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Richardson-Bates House Museum. The popular Alfred Hitchcock classic film “Notorious” will be featured on October 12 at 7 p.m. in the historic landmark Oswego Theatre at 138 W. Second St. All proceeds from the event will support the Richardson-Bates House Museum in Oswego.
Oswego County Workforce New York has created a training program for candidates interested in helping people with disabilities in their daily living needs in response to a local need for direct support professionals.
The Oswego County Legislature’s Health Committee presented Judy Lester with a certificate of appreciation for her 25 years of service. Lester is the director of patient services at the Oswego County Health Department.
The dinners will resume on Sunday, November 26.
A little bit of fun, hands-on learning opportunities and skill enhancements are just some of the rewards local students experience through their participation in the Fulton Community School Extended Day program. The real honor, according to Resource Coordinator Janice Scott, is seeing the students grow, mature and improve with each session.

Unfortunately for many children in Oswego County getting a good night’s sleep is only a dream. To make that dream come true Oswego County Opportunities has launched “Sleep Tight,” a proactive initiative to stop the spread of insect pests like bed bugs.
In its 13th year at SUNY Oswego, the project is part of an annual statewide community service project by Student-Athlete Advisory Council chapters at some SUNY Athletic Conference colleges. SAAC’s mission is to generate a student-athlete voice among Oswego’s intercollegiate teams and to enhance school spirit within athletics.
