On October 21 from noon until 4 p.m., the Oswego Public Library and Penfield Library/SUNY Oswego will be offering you an opportunity to fix–it rather than toss-it. The festival will be located in the Community Room located on the lower level of the library at 120 E. Second St. Instead of throwing away something that’s broken, why not fix it?
One child form each kindergarten through sixth grade classroom was honored by their teacher for making a difference in their classroom by being shining examples of respectful school citizens throughout the month of September.
The Oswego Town Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual open house on October 12 at 6 p.m. at the Fire Station, 640 County Route 20, Oswego. This year, the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department is scheduled to attend and make IDs for children.
The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.
The Oswego County Historical Society will host the final lecture of the 2017 series on October 22 at 1:30 p.m. at the historic Oswego Public Library, located at 120 E. Second St.. The event is free and open to the public. A PowerPoint presentation entitled “The Architects of Oswego Architecture” will be given by Justin White, county historian and board trustee of the historical society.
Members of the Oswego Health Auxiliary will hold their yearly bazaar from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on October 11 and 12 in the lobby of Oswego Hospital. This event is the Auxiliary’s major fund raiser for the year, which supports the programs and services of Oswego Health.
Robert Jones is a retired technology education teacher from the Hannibal School District. He began watercolor painting after retirement and has been teaching watercolor painting at several organizations throughout Oswego County. This is his fifth year painting and his artwork continues to evolve through experimentation, studies and practice.
Surrounded by boxes of supplies and volunteers packing blue and gray buckets to create relief kits, Eastern Mennonite University senior Ryan Faraci still wanted to do more. His efforts, and those of others who were working to aid hurricane victims in Florida and the Caribbean “lit a fire inside of me,” he said.
The creative spirit of New Haven and Palermo elementary students came alive during a collaborative art project at both schools. In celebration of International Dot Day on Sept. 15, art teacher Megan Christopher read the book “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds to students in grades kindergarten through four.
Fairgrieve Elementary School students who exceeded classroom expectations throughout the month of September were recently honored during a Morning Express program. Principal Jean Sampsell recognized several students as following classroom rules and being safe, responsible and respectful school citizens.
