Just in time for the holidays, local artist, Anna Perun, returns to the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center to demonstrate and teach the ancient Ukrainian art form of pysanky, in which traditional folk designs are written on eggs with hot beeswax while dipping the eggs in various dyes.

The H. Lee White Maritime Museum on West First Street Pier in Oswego hosted “Cloning Neptune: Recreating a Masterpiece” with aerospace and multi-media artist Don Gillespie this past summer. The project celebrated Oswego’s rich art heritage through classes, live painting demonstrations, multi-media presentations and a community arts show.
Leave a Legacy for Oswego County will host a workshop “Plan for Your Planned Gift” for local not-for-profits on November 3, at 8:30 a.m. in the J. P. Cullinan Conference Room at the Oswego Hospital on 110 W. Sixth St.

The Half-Shire Historical Society 43rd anniversary dinner dance was held on October 24, at our Richland headquarters. More than 100 people enjoyed a dinner of London broil, herbed potatoes, baked ziti, vegetables and salad. At 7 p.m., the renowned local band “Still Kickin” set up through our new stage door, and regaled the crowd to some great country music past 11 p.m.
A Safe Harbor Conference, focusing on the issues of human trafficking and exploitation, is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Nov. 9 at Lake Ontario Conference Center, 26 E. First St., it was announced by Brian Chetney, executive director, Oswego City County Youth Bureau.
