Showcasing more than 50 original pieces of art, the annual Arise UNIQUE Art exhibit arrived at CNY Arts Center 11 River Glen Drive location in Fulton Wednesday and remain open to the public through October 12. UNIQUE is an art and literary magazine published by ARISE that celebrates the creative voices of Central New York artists with disabilities.

Several students completed their graduate studies at SUNY Oswego and were recognized in August with master’s degrees or graduate certificates.

On September 15, the United States Department of Health and Human Services announced Northern Oswego County Health Services, Inc., as a recipient of Affordable Care Act Health Infrastructure Investment Program funding to increase access to behavioral health services. NOCHSI will receive $1 million.

The Mount Adnah Preservation Foundation, Inc., constructed a Memorial Brick Walkway at the site of the former Case Memorial Chapel at Mount Adnah Cemetery, Fulton, in 2009, using funds donated in memory of Dawn Rogers Rowlee, a former director of the Mount Adnah Preservation Foundation.

SUNY Oswego’s I Am Oz: Diversity Speakers Series will feature presenters this autumn in free public appearances that key on multiculturalism, sensitivity and acceptance of differences. Derald Wing Sue will speak Oct. 8 “Overcoming Microaggressions: Toxic Rain in Higher Education.”

SUNY New Paltz welcomes more than 1,800 students to campus for the 2015-16 academic year.

Brayden Knapp, a toddler at Discovery Learning Center, reads “Good Night Moon” to his pal, Mickey Mouse, just before rest time. This is one of Brayden’s favorite books. He likes to read it daily.

At the recent Oswego School Board meeting, the board congratulated Nancy McKiernan on her retirement. McKiernan had served the students and staff of the school district for the period January 17, 1983, to the present and “has been a most responsible, conscientious, and dedicated staff member in service to the school district.”

Canale’s Restaurant will be providing the next Salvation Army Guest Chef dinner on October 6 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. They will be serving ziti and meatballs, tossed salad with their house Italian dressing, and bread and butter.
