The new SOLO, ShopOswegoLiveOswego, a group of small locally owned and operated businesses is sponsoring a sidewalk chalk art contest on Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. as part of the Port City Co-Op Sunday Flea Market and Small Business Showcase.
On August 16, a freewill pancake breakfast will be held at Lake City Masonic Lodge No. 127 at 127 E. Seneca St. Serving will be from 8 a.m. until noon.
Members of the Elks #271 in Oswego gathered recently with members of Blessings in a Backpack to present a check. Elk Charlotte Sereno presented Melissa Russell, program coordinator of Blessings in a Backpack in Oswego, a check for $2,000 to feed local elementary children.
Golfers from two leagues at Griffin’s Greens Golf Course joined forces recently to tee off against cancer. Members of the Tuesday Elks Men’s League and the Tuesday Women’s League formed mixed teams and played a special round of golf to raise money for Oswego County Opportunities’ Cancer Services Program.
In conjunction with Canal Splash on Aug. 8, Magic in Minetto had families enjoying events for all. Highlights of Magic were the Canoe/Kayak Race and Pace, Minetto volunteer Fire Department’s car extrication demonstration, and the historical photo essay of the Oswego Canal.

Why, Scrabble Fest 2015, of course! On Oct. 2, OCO Literacy Volunteers will hold its 9th Annual Diane Falise Memorial Scrabble Fest.
Children must turn four years old on or before December 1, 2015, to register for our Universal Pre-Kindergarten program; and Children must turn five years old on or before December 1, 2015, to register for Kindergarten.
Residents at Michaud Residential Health Services in Fulton enjoyed a night of bingo and visitors on August 3. Oswego AmeriCorps members Vanessa Langdon and Emma Belcher helped coordinate the event as their community involvement project.
