Catholic Charities of Oswego County will host “Great Tastings” on May 3 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Lake Ontario Conference Center, Oswego, said Mary Margaret Pezzella-Pekow, CCOC executive director.
Oswego County residents who use the solid waste transfer stations now have the option of purchasing 13-gallon prepaid trash bags to dispose of their trash. The bright yellow bags are marked with the Oswego County seal and are available at the transfer stations.
SUNY Oswego’s annual Honors Convocation will celebrate student academic achievement at 3 p.m. April 17, in the Marano Campus Center arena and convocation hall, with a keynote by 1987 graduate Stephanie Pianka, treasurer and vice president of financial operations at New York University.
Jeremy Catania of West Monroe performed in Buffalo State’s recent production of the classic play, The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde. Catania is majoring in theater.
The Oswego County Legislature’s Human Services Committee presented Cheryl Wallace a certificate of appreciation for her 25 years of service to county government.
On April 26, Paws Across Oswego County will be holding its 10th annual open house at Paws & Effect Inc in Oswego. PAOC will also be celebrating its 15th year as a non-profit organization. As in the past, its event will bring together local animal rescue organizations to help spread awareness about adoption and rescue.
The annual Spring Oswego Community Youth Orchestra Concert will be held on April 19 in the Sheldon Hall Ballroom of SUNY Oswego at 7 p.m. OCYO is comprised of local elite student musicians grades 7-12. Tickets are $5, available at Midstate Music and SUNY Oswego Sheldon Hall Room 219 Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – noon and 1 – 4 p.m.
Dr. Brian Johnson, professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and an addiction specialist at SUNY Upstate Medical University, will discuss heroin and opiate addictions in a 10 a.m. talk April 24, in SUNY Oswego’s Sheldon Hall ballroom. Johnson will present the latest research on opiate addiction and recovery. There is no cost to attend.
A free public reception for “Design Responsively” and the advanced undergraduate and graduate student designers will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. April 24. The exhibition will run through May 21 at the downtown branch of Tyler Art Gallery and the College Store, corner of West First and Bridge streets in Oswego.
The residents made a variety of Easter and spring themed decorations to brighten up their rooms.
