Hundreds of students and parents filed into Fairley Elementary School for the event, where they were greeted by teachers, staff members, local business owners and agency representatives.
Students enrolled in the Commercial Driver License-A Program at the Center for Career and Community Education recently had a chance to explore a career in transportation with a local company. Dot Transportation employees Hal Williams and Steve Kuchko discussed the many opportunities available to graduates of Ken Koegel’s CDL-A course.
An “Overnight Package” courtesy of the Quality Inn & Suites Riverfront in Oswego will be one of the featured prizes awarded during the annual “Bundle of Bucks” Charity Raffle Drawing Party taking place on May 9. The Oswego YMCA will hold an indoor cycle marathon on April 18 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Riders can join for an hour or choose to get together a team of eight individuals to ride throughout the day.
The SUNY Oswego Student Association will hold a festival, dubbed OzFest, on May 8 that will conclude with a four-act concert headlined by Big Sean. Starting at 7:30 p.m. May 8, in the college’s Marano Campus Center arena and convocation hall, the concert will also feature Timeflies, B.O.B. and Mac Miller.
The Oswego Players invite all interested persons to come to its monthly meeting, see a one-act play, have some refreshments and tour the theater facility. The open meeting is set for 7 p.m. on April 14 in the Frances Marion Brown Theater of the Arts Center at Fort Ontario Park.
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Dave Bullard introduced Mary Ellen Chesbro, agricultural manager, NYS State Fair. Mary Ellen displayed an animated, highly detailed three-part power point presentation which included the history of the fair, present day fair and the future of the fair.
Seniors at John C. Birdlebough High School saved their best for last as they wrapped up their fourth and final Spirit Week with a victory in the Battle of the Classes. The annual event is the culmination of a yearlong effort in which each class receives points for completing various service projects and for displaying school spirit.
