Hosted by Delta Kappa Kappa Inc., in collaboration with SUNY Oswego’s men’s ice hockey team, For the Kids was the conclusion of a semester-long campaign created by SUNY Oswego students Denvol Haye, member of DKK, and Eli Kim-Swallow, a forward on the hockey team, with a goal of raising $10,000 for the CAC.

Blessings in a Backpack is a volunteer organization that provides food for elementary school children who may otherwise have little or no food to eat on the weekends during the school year. They stated that $80 ($2.10 per week) will provide meals for one child, for the 38 weekends of the school year.

The Oswego County Community Health and Poverty Reduction Task Force will meet with local clergy, church leaders, and faith-based ministries on April 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Victory Bible Church, 255 Hungry Lane in Central Square.

Lindsay Johnson of Oswego, daughter of W.T. Johnson and Joanne Johnson, was named a 2014-2015 Outstanding Undergraduate Scholar at Rochester Institute of Technology. Johnson is a fifth-year student in the Industrial Engineering – BS program in RIT’s Kate Gleason College of Engineering.

James Everard, a fisheries biologist with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, recently served as a guest speaker at the school and discussed fishing regulations, such as open seasons, catch limits, species identification and proper catch-and-release protocol.

Student artwork from all schools and grades, kindergarten to seniors in high school, will be on display along with “Make-and-Take activities at each school’s area, as well as photo opportunities in famous works of art.

The program was designed to help educators and students succeed based on the theory that knowledge builds on knowledge. Its digital and print products have been incorporated into the curriculum for Phoenix students in kindergarten through second grades and focuses on English language arts.

Seniors graduating from G. Ray Bodley High School who will be entering a two-year program in the fall of 2015 to study a technical, vocational, business or other certified apprentice program are eligible to apply for a $500 scholarship. The scholarships are sponsored by the Fulton Sunrise Rotary.
