The Oswego YMCA will hold an indoor cycle marathon on April 18 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Riders can join for an hour or choose to get together a team of eight individuals to ride throughout the day.
The SUNY Oswego Student Association will hold a festival, dubbed OzFest, on May 8 that will conclude with a four-act concert headlined by Big Sean. Starting at 7:30 p.m. May 8, in the college’s Marano Campus Center arena and convocation hall, the concert will also feature Timeflies, B.O.B. and Mac Miller.
The Oswego Players invite all interested persons to come to its monthly meeting, see a one-act play, have some refreshments and tour the theater facility. The open meeting is set for 7 p.m. on April 14 in the Frances Marion Brown Theater of the Arts Center at Fort Ontario Park.
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Dave Bullard introduced Mary Ellen Chesbro, agricultural manager, NYS State Fair. Mary Ellen displayed an animated, highly detailed three-part power point presentation which included the history of the fair, present day fair and the future of the fair.
Seniors at John C. Birdlebough High School saved their best for last as they wrapped up their fourth and final Spirit Week with a victory in the Battle of the Classes. The annual event is the culmination of a yearlong effort in which each class receives points for completing various service projects and for displaying school spirit.
After a long, dreary winter, Phoenix student musicians ushered in the spring season with an upbeat concert featuring several solo performances that brought the crowd to its feet. The John C. Birdlebough High School symphonic band, under the direction of Joanna Young, kicked things off with four songs that delighted the audience.
The Amyloidosis Support Group will meet on April 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The meeting is open to those living in the Upstate NY area: Rochester, Albany, Syracuse, Buffalo and Utica. It will be held in Rochester General Hospital’s Weiner Conference Room (ground floor), 1425 Portland Ave., Rochester.
The members of the Pulaski Historical Society invites you to join them for something different for lunch one day a month. On April 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., you are invited to bring your lunch (or pick up some take-out at a local eatery) and come join them at the Carriage House at the Pulaski Historical Society.
Hundreds of students, teachers and community members filled the high school auditorium for the annual event, which served as a fundraiser for the senior class trip to Boston. In addition to raising money, the show also provided an opportunity for a diverse group of students to display their talents.
On the SUNY Oswego campus recently, dozens of local high school students learned the meaning of the phrase “a picture paints a thousand words” during an Oswego County Academic Youth League competition. The challenge pitted student teams representing eight Oswego County school districts against one another in a battle of creativity, photography skills and marketing prowess. The team from Fulton’s G. Ray Bodley High School took first place.
