Now available in Oswego County the 2-1-1 system provides 24-hour free and confidential information regarding health and human services resources available in Oswego County as well as Central New York.

Fitzhugh Park Elementary student Alix Pauldine recently captured second place in the New York State competition of the National Missing Children’s Day Poster Contest, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice. Pauldine’s winning artwork competed with 40 other submissions from across the state.

The Oswego Evangelical Alliance of churches will come together for a community Good Friday service on April 3 at 7 p.m. at the Oswego Alliance Church, 371 Thompson Road in the town of Oswego.

Paula Demm of Burke’s Home Centers in Oswego and Fulton presented Oswego County Opportunities’ Cancer Services Program Partnership coordinator Carolyn Handville with a donation of two $50 gift certificates for free drawings during the program’s free colon and prostate cancer screening event to be held March 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at AMP Urology, 806 W. Broadway.

The Nazareth College Art Department will present Circuition: recent works by Jessica Joyce, an exhibition of work by jeweler, metalworker, and photographer Jessica Joyce of Oswego, through March 22, with an opening reception March 20, from 5-7 p.m.

In recognition of Colon Cancer Awareness Month, Oswego County Opportunities’ Cancer Services Program Partnership has teamed with AMP Urology in Fulton to offer a free colon and prostate cancer screening event on March 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at AMP Urology, 806 W. Broadway.

Rotarian Nancy Kush Ellis introduced Michael J. Balanoff, director of Development of the Justice Alliance of CNY. It is a nonprofit organization that provides legal assistance to low-income families and individuals in Central New York.

Shows in March highlight “The Stars of Spring,” a presentation dedicated to the bright stars and constellations in Earth’s spring sky, such as the Big and Little Bears, Draco the Dragon and Leo the Lion.

Any residents of Oswego that would like to make their food dollars go farther may order April Food $en$e packages until 3 p.m. on April 10. The April package contains Italian meatballs, veal patties, ground chicken, Italian sausage, ziti, spaghetti sauce, frozen pizza, tomato chicken soup, vegetable medley, diced tomatoes, and fresh produce. Payment of $15.50 or by EBT card must accompany the order.
