To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must be full-time and have achieved a minimum 3.6 semester and cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
The auditorium at Lura M. Sharp Elementary School recently transformed into a Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) village as fourth graders got a firsthand glimpse into the lives of Native Americans. For the students, who had just completed a unit on Native American studies, the Jan. 15 performance of “There Once was a Longhouse” reinforced the lessons they had learned in the classroom.
Assemblyman Will Barclay reminded farmers of new grant monies available for innovative, emerging farms and the deadline for applications is Jan. 28. Barclay supported putting $1 million in the 2014-2015 state budget to fund the program. Eligible farms must be 150 acres or less and embrace inventive, sustainable agricultural techniques.
In honor of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on Jan. 9, Assemblyman Will Barclay and members of the Assembly Minority Conference thanked the courageous men and women across the state who help serve and protect our communities.
CNY Arts Center is partnering with local author Jim Farfaglia to bring back its Writers’ Café, a social gathering for local writers. Writers’ Café will be held once a month at CNY Arts Center, starting January 25 at 6 p.m. The Arts Center is located at River Glen Plaza on the CCC Fulton Campus.

The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program, a division of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, offers the “Osteo Bone Builders” program which consists of an exercise regimen to help keep seniors out long term care facilities and restore bone loss. The Osteo Bone Builders classes are held bi-weekly at 23 sites in Oswego County.
Financial aid experts from SUNY Oswego’s Financial Aid department will be available with their many years of experience working in financial aid at community, state and private colleges, to assist in the OHS library from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
