VEX is a robotics company that has built a program to challenge high school students to engineer robots to compete against each other. During competitions students get a chance to earn a place at the state championship where the winning team can move onto the world competition competing for scholarships. Students learn valuable skills during preparation for and during the competitions.

The students in Mrs. Stephanie Talamo’s Kindergarten class at Trinity Catholic School celebrated Thanksgiving recently. Students enjoyed turkey soup, corn muffins as well the butter they prepared themselves.

Recognizing Oswego County’s theme for November is Senior Support. This month, the group focused their lens on efforts within the community to engage with and improve the lives of senior citizens. Adopt-a-Grandparent, an all-volunteer, student run group at SUNY Oswego, was chosen as the Community Champion for November.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be stopping by to visit at the Pulaski Historical Society as part of “Light Up Pulaski” on Dec. 7 from 2 to 4 p.m. Santa will meet and talk with the children in the Carriage House, as well as delight them with a story. Meanwhile, in the museum house, Bev Rossman will be entertaining visitors with music of the Christmas season on her guitar.
The Oswego County Historical Society will host the annual Christmas Open House on December 7 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Richardson-Bates House Museum. The event is free and open to the public. “The historic Richardson-Bates House Museum will be fully decorated in the Victorian style,” said Justin White, president of the board of trustees.”We welcome the community to join us in celebrating the holiday season in the spirit of an old-fashioned Christmas.”

Plan to attend the Oswego County Holiday Farmers’ Market on December 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mexico VFW, 5930 Scenic Ave. (State Route 3), just north of the village of Mexico, sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County.
Barring no unforeseen circumstances, the demolition of the old Oswego County Jail on East River Road will be completed by the end of November. Members of the County Legislature are looking at several options for future use of the property.
A Christmas craft show fundraiser will be held on November 29 from noon to 4 p.m. and November 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.at the Silver Star Union Hall on 701 Hannibal St. All proceeds to benefit the programs of the Mental Health Association of Oswego County.
