Parishioners of the Minetto United Methodist Church will gather for Rally Day on September 7 at 10 a.m. Children are asked to bring their backpacks to be blessed by the pastor. The Chancel Choir, under the direction of Mary Lou Carpenter-Bjorkman and accompanied by Kathy Duschen, will present Jonah and The Big Fish, a short musical play with Pastor Chuck Forbes as Jonah.
A grant from the National Institutes of Health will help SUNY Oswego chemistry faculty member Dr. Kestutis Bendinskas advance understanding of how low levels of lead affect children’s cardiovascular health.
Sit and Knit with ‘Nita is settling in as a weekly affair at Arts in the Heart Gallery with the addition of crochet instruction on the first Wednesday of each month. This Wednesday, September 3, at 4:30 p.m., Silvan Johnson will return to share her skill and teach basic crochet techniques.
The first fall art exhibition for the SUNY Oswego Metro Center in Syracuse will feature the work of Central New York artist Melissa Johnson. “Nature Moments: Paintings and Drawings” will run Sept. 11 to Oct. 11 at Tyler Art Gallery @ SUNY Oswego Metro Center in The Atrium, 2 Clinton Square in Syracuse. A free public reception with the artist will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 11, at the Metro Center.

The Oswego County Historical Society will host the fourth lecture of the season on September 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the Richardson-Bates House Museum at 135 E. Third St. The event is free and open to the public. Guest lecturer Richard Palmer will present a program entitled “From Duluth to Alexandria Bay: Great Lakes Shipping Through the Years.”
