Volney Elementary School held its annual Game Day on June 6.

Oswego Community Christian School recently held a History Fair. Students in fifth through eighth grade made a thesis statement and did research using primary and secondary sources to prove their thesis statement and also the impact of their topic on society. Third and Fourth grade topics focussed on significant people in American history such as Clara Barton, Robert E. Lee, Noah Webster, Daniel Boone and Ulyssess S. Grant.

Megan K. Clevenger of Sandy Creek is one of 731 students at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg named to the university’s Dean’s List for the spring semester of the 2013-14 academic year.

Allison Carmody of Oswego achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA during the Spring 2014 semester, earning a spot on the Provost’s List. Allison is a senior majoring in Political Science.

Third graders at Fairley Elementary School showed off their projects on countries across the globe at a Cultural Fair held June 5. Students and their families sampled food from five foreign countries, including India, Ireland, China, Brazil and Spain.

Second grade teachers at Fairley Elementary School recently opened their classrooms after-hours for parents and their children for a Zoo Night.

The Oswego County Onion Growers’ Twilight Meeting will be held June 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. at John Dunsmoor Farm, 777½ County Route 53, Oswego.

The Oswego Relay For Life event will begin June 13 at 6:45 p.m. at the Oswego High School track and continue through 6 a.m. on June14.

“Introduction to Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services” will be held on June 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. and the second class, “The Salvation Army Incident Command System,” will be held on June 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
