Characters Wanted for Oswego Children’s Theater Production of ‘Shrek the Musical’
The Oswego Children’s Theater is looking for many more than a few good actors to participate in its upcoming production of “Shrek the Musical.” Auditions are scheduled for May 13 from 5 – 8 p.m. and May 16 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the New Haven Congregational Church, Route 104 east between Oswego and Mexico.

CCC Students Clean Up Great Bear
At total of 23 bags of litter, one tire, several large metal signs and one broken weed trimmer were collected and properly disposed of. Students cleaned an area approximately equal to one mile on the Route 57 stretch.

Suicide Prevention Seminar Set May 17
A free suicide prevention seminar, with light refreshments, will be hosted by the United Baptist Church of Scriba. The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. on May 17 at the American Legion located at 69 W. Bridge St. in Oswego.

The Oswego County Youth Works Program is recruiting for the 2014 Summer Youth Employment Program. This year’s SYEP is slated to run from July 7 through Aug. 15, with most youth working 25 hours per week.

I was petting my dog Scooby last night and felt this odd little lump thing on his neck. When I took a closer look, oh gross, it was a tick. I had never seen one on him before. I didn’t think they even started before the summer. So I tried putting alcohol on the little bugger to make him back out and that didn’t work at all.

Oswego School Board Meetings, Budget Public Hearing Set May 6
The finance, curriculum and personnel committee meetings will be called to order at 5 p.m. At the conclusion of the committee meetings the regular meeting will commence. However, at 6 p.m. the public hearing regarding the proposed budget will be called to order.

Oswego Health Among Fulton Bike Rodeo Sponsors
Local youngsters can learn more about bike safety and be properly fit with a free bike helmet during the Fulton Bike Rodeo to be held May 31 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Fulton Community Center. This free event will also offer drawings for a free new bike, air hop rides, bike registrations, food and more.
