Local Students Earn Dean’s List Honors from Wells College

Karrie Damm, executive director of the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County, has announced the celebrity judges and entertainment for the 3rd Annual CAC Chicken Wing and Micro-Brew Fest. Local favorite Mike Shiel will add his unique acoustic rock sound to the event as he performs from 5 to 10 p.m.
Six of the newly trained master trainers are osteoporosis (osteo) instructors at Oswego County sites: Rachel Brooks, Ann Hardy, Carol Miller, Carol Simpson, Joan Southwell and Marjorie Flood. Also trained were Sharon Connor (Onondaga County), Sharon Faudree (Red Creek) and RSVP directors Ellen Wahl (Oswego County) and Nadia Emerson (Brevard County, Florida).
The following local students were named Presidential Scholars for the fall 2013 semester at Clarkson University:
CNY Arts Center is excited to announce recruiting efforts are paying off with the addition of John Gamble as technical director. Gamble will oversee set building, painting, and prop design for productions currently in rehearsal including Searching for Eden: The Diaries of Adam and Eve, and Willy Wonka Jr.
Two students at Michael A. Maroun Elementary School have roles in Baldwinsville Theatre Guild’s musical production of Les Misérables. Larissa and Lily MacDonald, fourth and second grade students at MAM, were cast during auditions in June. They sang a song from the musical to audition with, and both scored a place in the production, despite having never been in a musical before.
The Phoenix Central School District would like to invite parents, community members, educators, school board members and business leaders to an open community forum about equal educational opportunities on February 5.

The Oswego High School will be hosting a hands-on workshop February 5 to provide high school seniors planning to attend college, and their parents the opportunity to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid on-line.
The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified home health care, long-term home health care, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.
