Faculty members in the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (APW) Central School District joined forces recently to show their support for National Heart Month and raise awareness about the hidden dangers of heart disease in women. Staff members wore the color red on the first Friday in February and collected a $410 donation for the American Heart Association.

Everyone who purchased Bundle of Bucks charity raffle tickets on or before February 14 was entered in the “Early Bird” drawing where five – one hundred dollar prizes have been awarded.

Rhiannon Ellison is 13 years old and in the eighth grade in the ESM school district. She began acting and singing in the third grade when she was asked to perform in the high school production of “The Wizard of Oz.” She has been performing ever since.

White gave a brief overview of the museum and its rich local history with McKinstry following up on learning opportunities for visitors to the museum, hours of operation, membership for anyone with an interest in preserving local history and upcoming events.

Bring your family and friends for a fun day about birds and nature as the Onondaga Audubon Society hosts its annual Bird Festival on May 10. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the scenic lakeside Derby Hill Bird Observatory just off NYS Route 104B in the town of Mexico.
The Office of Business and Community Relations-organized event raised both awareness of women’s heart health and $730. Students and employees made donations to guess the capacity of a sweetheart chocolate jar, made contributions to wear jeans for the day and received heart health information.
Oswego Rotary welcomed Oswego High School seniors Alex Kouthoofd and Shannon McIntosh at a recent club meeting. The club hosts seniors from OHS bi-weekly, introducing the students to members and sharing their academic accomplishments and community contributions.
Creativity, science, technology and computer programming were all part of construction of Lego kits at the Fitzhugh Park Elementary School. The students not only built creatures, but also programmed them by using computer technology.
