OFD to hold EMT class
The Oswego Fire Department is offering an EMT course beginning January 7 and running through May 15, 2014. The course will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the East Side Fire Station.

Students in Rich Rainville’s auto body class at Oswego County BOCES show off the shirts that were designed by John LaFlamme, a Central Square student enrolled in the course.
A social studies unit on ancient civilizations culminated with presentations and a hallway display of projects for Granby Elementary School sixth-graders. Students in Joe McNamara’s class studied ancient Egypt and spent nearly three weeks creating projects that depicted various aspects of Egyptian culture.
James Ladue, a SUNY Oswego alumnus and national weather scientist, will speak from 3 to 4 p.m. Dec. 6, in Room 175 of the college’s Richard S. Shineman Center for Science, Engineering and Innovation about extreme natural disasters, as well as how to improve communications with the public and the resiliency of our communities to severe weather.
The Oswego County Historical Society will host the annual Christmas Open House on December 8 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Richardson-Bates House Museum at 135 E. Third St. in Oswego. The event is free and open to the public.
The Oswego Public Library will have special hours during Thanksgiving week. A special Thanksgiving Story Hour will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the Children’s Room.

Employees of Constellation Energy Nuclear Group’s Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station delivered a generous donation of Thanksgiving food for families that they adopted through Catholic Charities of Oswego County. Each year the employees of CENG generously support the efforts of Catholic Charities to help make the holidays a little more special for those less fortunate in their community.
Oswego Head Start Pre-K recently took a field trip to the Oswego Fire Department.
Oswego County Traffic Safety and WIC will be co-sponsoring a child passenger safety seat check at Sandy Creek Methodist Church during the WIC clinic on Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. – noon.
