The annual reorganizational meeting for the Oswego City School District Board of Education will be conducted at 5 p.m. on July 1 at the Education Center Board Room.

Paddleboarding and kayaking are increasingly popular ways to travel the big waters of the Great Lakes Seaway Trail. To capitalize on public interest in waterfront destinations, three young entrepreneurs ready to put byway travelers on slender boards and in watercraft propelled by paddle power are hosting grand opening events June 29-30 and July 3.
The first concert in the Oswego Summer Sunset Concert Series will be held Wednesday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Breitbeck Park in Oswego. These concerts are provided free to the public by The City of Oswego and The Musicians Union of Oswego County.
The 171st day of the 2102-13 school year was a pretty special day for students in first grade at Sandy Creek Elementary School. The students hosted and were the stars of a Reading Tea. The tea is an annual event at the school where each first grader invites one special guest to their classroom for a celebration to commemorate reading and writing achievements.
The Special Education Department at Oswego County BOCES (OCB) honored the class of 2013 with a commencement ceremony in June.
Each student starts their school year in pretty much the same way – introducing themselves to their classmates and making new friends. The same is true for the second grade students in Terry Merritt’s class at Lanigan Elementary School and Rauri Downes’ class at Volney Elementary School, but with a slight twist.
The following area students have been named to the spring term Dean’s List at Hartwick:
William Carhart, CEO, Oswego County Federal Credit Union, was recognized as the 2013 ‘Outstanding Professional’ by the Credit Union Association of New York ($50 million to $250 million in assets) at its June 14 annual meeting in Lake George.
