State Senator Patty Ritchie will honor 16 Central and Northern New York women who were nominated for the New York State Senate’s “Women of Distinction” program at a special event, taking place in Watertown on Thursday at the Flower Memorial Library at 6 p.m.

The BOCES Distance Learning Program, in conjunction with Onondaga Community College, is offering a course on Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting on April 15 in the Distance Learning Rooms at Paul V. Moore High School and in Birdlebough High School.
All applicants for a teaching certificate on or after February 2, 2001, are required to complete at least two clock hours of course work or training in school violence prevention and intervention in accordance with Section 3004 of the Education Law.
Chiropractors throughout Oswego County will host a special Patient Appreciation Day in support of the United Way. On May 4 participating chiropractors will offer chiropractic treatments for current and former patients, as well as examinations for new patients in exchange for a $20 donation to the United Way of Greater Oswego County.

Youth Court is designed to give middle school and high school students first-hand experience in the judicial process, and serves youth who commit crimes which are not typically addressed in Family Court. Youth Court members hear cases involving juvenile offenders and sentence them to a fair punishment.
Together with the students being honored, an audience of family, friends and campus colleagues of the honorees will witness the procession of faculty presenters in academic regalia, applaud students receiving awards, and hear from 1981 communication studies graduate Rosemary Cardamone Crane.
Learn how to start a vegetable garden with Jan Smith, Oswego County Cooperative Extension Master Gardener, on April 22 from 6:30 – 9 p.m. at the Oswego County Cornell Cooperative Extension Office, 3288 Main St., Mexico. Smith will be teaching how important soil and water conditions are to your success as well as site selection.
National Sibling Day is an annual celebration that takes place on April 10 to honor the special bond that is shared between siblings. Brothers and sisters are, despite some highs and lows, the people you have the longest lasting relationship with. For children who have a sibling with a disability, the dynamic of the relationship can raise certain challenges.
