The Oswego County Legislature’s Human Services Committee recently presented Silvia Langdon with a certificate of appreciation for 30 years of service to the county. Langdon is a senior employment specialist with the Oswego County Department of Social Services.
The United Baptist Church of Scriba is proud to present another night of comedy on April 20 at 7 p.m. The Jeff Allen “Happy Wife, Happy Life” series will be shown for all to enjoy.

“Game of Thrones” co-creator David Benioff, author of the 2012-13 Oswego Reading Initiative selection “City of Thieves,” will make a free public appearance at 7 p.m. April 24, in SUNY Oswego’s Campus Center arena.

Seaway Trail, Inc. has announced the Viewers Choice winners of the 2013 Great Lakes Seaway Trail Beauty of the Byways Quilt Show endorsed by the National Scenic Byway Foundation. Carol Soucy of Mexico was voted 3rd Choice for her original landscape art design of the waterfront at Mexico Point Park.
On April 20 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., a car seat safety check will be held in the city of Oswego at the new Menter Ambulance satellite location, 388 W. First St. Safety seat checks are held monthly and feature nationally certified technicians to help parents and caregivers install the right seat in their car securely every time.
April 20-27 is National Infant Immunization Week. This annual observance aims to improve the health of children two years old and younger by reminding parents to immunize them against vaccine-preventable childhood diseases.
“Once Upon a Mattress” will aim to be a treat for eyes and ears when it takes the stage at SUNY Oswego’s Waterman Theatre starting with a preview at 8 p.m. April 18. The college’s theatre and music departments will present the comic tale at 8 p.m. April 19, 20 and 27, with a concluding matinee at 2 p.m. April 28.
