Dolbear retired from her position as the director of assistance programs with the Oswego County Department of Social Services.

Topics covered at the three-day program included: discovery rules for police in a high-tech environment, next generation 911 issues, and updates on homeland security labor laws, foil law, retirement law,  and personnel and budget issues.

On July 28 from 10 a.m. to noon, Oswego Public Library Public Computing Center will host an Internet Safety Workshop for Parents. This workshop will discuss basic safety guidelines to keep children out of dangerous situations while enjoying the benefits of the internet.

The Oswego County Department of Social Services will sponsor an informational meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 4, at the DSS Office, 100 Spring St., Mexico, for persons who are interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents.

The Oswego County Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee recognized Jeanne Chesnut on her retirement after 25 years with the county.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has written a letter to Senator Patty Ritchie on the success of the just-completed legislative session, hailing unprecedented, bipartisan efforts that have resulted in sweeping tax cuts, new jobs and an improving economy as proof that “This is a New York that is working.”

Each July 1 all of the presidents in the more than 34,000 Rotary clubs in the world change their leadership. New leaders bring forth “new ideas” thus fostering progress in community service.

Working in collaboration with United Way, other area school districts and more than 20 business and organizations, the annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign collects donations of school supplies for distribution to less fortunate students throughout Oswego County.

Several area residents are among nearly 50 college and university students taking part in hands-on learning in SUNY Oswego’s Global Laboratory network at science labs around the world in July.
