It’s always extra special for me when I get to honor women for the work that they have done to make our region a better place. Last week, I had the privilege of recognizing nearly one dozen women from Central and Northern New York at my “Women of Distinction” ceremony in Watertown.
The Oswego High School Top 100 students were recognized for the twenty-third consecutive year. Several hundred people packed the Oswego High School Dining Hall for the annual “Top 100” dinner.
The fifth annual Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Awards Banquet was held at Bayshore in Oswego. The Oswego County Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council (EMSAC), which organized the event, expressed appreciation for the major sponsors of the 2012 EMSAC Awards Banquet.
I sometimes rescue cats and dogs that I find that appear to be lost or abandoned and if I can’t find the owner, I then try to find them new homes on my own. A friend of mine told me I could be charged with stealing because they are really not my animals.
Nancy Perticone, Betty Talamo and Fred Wall reached the 20-, 15- and 10-year milestones, respectively, volunteering with the Oswego County Tax Aides in the free income-tax preparation and counseling program.
The H. Lee White Marine Museum and the Oswego Maritime Foundation are offering youth and adult sailing classes. This program has a long history of teaching water safety and boat handling.
This will be the final regular meeting for veteran board member Francis Hoefer as he chose not to see re-election to the Board of Education.
Oswego High School Paradox yearbook editor Sarah Gosek and Lauren Peel, next year’s editor, presented the Oswego High School executive principal with a copy of this year’s edition for the school archives.
The Fulton Noon Rotary Club’s recent program was about the Fulton High School’s FBLA.
Rotarian Don Ross introduced Angela Ferlito and Danielle House, directors of the Fulton High School’s FBLA (Future Business Leader’s of America Club).
After more than a year of events, fundraisers and weekly meetings at a local church, CNY Arts Center has found a temporary home in State Street United Methodist Church in Fulton.
