This year marks the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the great ship Titanic and the H. Lee White Marine Museum will commemorate the centennial with a premier event, “A Titanic Affair,” on April 14 at the American Foundry in Oswego.

The Oswego County Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee recently presented Kathleen Salvadore with a certificate of appreciation for her 25 years of service.

Each session consists of a short presentation about services available to the community, with informal discussion and question and answer session. There is no charge to participate.

Operation Oswego County Director L. Michael Treadwell reported to the Oswego County Legislature’s Economic Development and Planning Committee that there is a new restaurant at the Oswego County Airport. Puddle Jumpers opened on March 1 at the facility on county Route 176.

Two celebrations came together on Friday at Fitzhugh Park Elementary School. It was “Read Across America Day,” but also the birthday of Dr. Seuss.

Karen Murdoch and Erica Bertrand’s sixth grade students from Granby Elementary  recently visited Pies Guys Pizzeria as part of their math lesson.

The Oswego County Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee recently presented Lawrence Schmidt with a certificate of appreciation for his 30 years of service. Schmidt is the director of Oswego County’s Office for the Aging.

Christy Huynh, associate director of SUNY Oswego’s Compass student success center, and Dr. Terry Tiballi, associate professor of mathematics, will receive the President’s Awards for Excellence in Professional Staff Service and for Excellence in Faculty Service, respectively, in April 20 ceremonies.
