The Oswego Association of Business and Professional Women installed new officers at its May meeting. The OABPW is an active community service organization. Membership includes working women and retirees.

This summer, Fort Ontario State Historic Site in Oswego, will host nine separate – (one week long) military history activity sessions for children ages 8-18. The sessions will be led by AmeriCorps staffer Ian Mumpton. The programming is aimed at getting young people outside and active during the summer.

The Pregnancy Care Center of Oswego County will be hosting a monthly Open House event the 4th Thursday of every month from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 140 West Utica Street in Oswego (between Vona’s and Canale’s).

The event will be multifaceted, centering around an unveiling of the new indoor exhibit focusing on the history and significance of the National Historic Landmark Tug , LT-5, during World War II and afterwards. The vessel is proudly berthed on the west pier by the Museum, in Oswego’s Historic Maritime District.

As part of Oswego County Opportunities (OCO)’s recognition of May as National Mental Health Awareness Month, the agency’s Mental Health Residential Program is looking to erase the fears or misconceptions that may exist in relation to psychiatric illness.
