McHugh Votes for Major Increase in LIHEAP Funding

Congressman John M. McHugh (NY-Pierrepont Manor) announced that he voted today for H.R. 2638, the Consolidated Security, Disaster Assistance, and Continuing Appropriations Act of 2009.  This legislation included significant and immediate funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).  The LIHEAP funds will bring total funding for New York State to a record level of over $476 million for Fiscal Year 2009, an increase of over $116 million from Fiscal Year 2008.

Minority Point Of View: Revies Salaries Elsewhere Before Giving Raises Here

We propose that the salaries of personnel in counties similar to Oswego County throughout the state be reviewed in comparison to our county salary structure. Because this task must be undertaken outside of the political realm, we propose a special committee made up of business people and community leaders to review the information and make a recommendation in a timely manner to the legislature.

Congressman John M. McHugh (NY-Pierrepont Manor) voted today for the passage of H.R. 7110, which provides appropriations for job creation and preservation, infrastructure investment, and economic and energy assistance for fiscal year 2009.  Congressman McHugh was one of 41 Republicans to vote for the measure.
