</p>Maggie May, a "mutt" adopted from the Humane Society by Nikki Newidomy enjoyed her picnic lunch and her new bandanna at Strut Your Mutt in 2007.

What could be better than an early fall day in the park, running or walking with your best friend, and all for a good cause?  On Sunday, September 28th, 2008,  beginning at 10:30 a.m. you can “Strut Your Mutt,” at  the Oswego County Humane Society’s Fourth Annual 5K Walk/Run and  1M Family Walk at Breitbeck Park on the west side of Oswego.

McHugh Applauds Release of LIHEAP Contingency Funds

Congressman John M. McHugh (NY-Pierrepont Manor) today strongly supported the announcement by the President that the remaining Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) contingency funds for FY 2008 will be released.  A total of $120.7 million will be disbursed as a result of this action, with New York State getting the largest share at $12.1 million.  This brings the total LIHEAP funding for New York State to $359,628,405.

Upstate Families Face Winter Heating Crisis

Like Albany’s formulas for property tax relief and school aid, the current state heating aid program is unfair to Upstate homeowners. Right now, the maximum heating aid grant is the same, whether you live on the South Shore of Long Island or the shore of Lake Ontario. Obviously, the winters are longer and colder in our region, and our families need additional relief.
