When Advance Media New York put out the call for nominations for its 2019 Young & Amazing Awards, one Phoenix Central School District parent knew a group that fit the bill.

To celebrate Children’s Dental Health Month, Fairley Elementary students recently had a chance to learn about oral hygiene.

The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.

Academic success was celebrated at the Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation during a recognition ceremony for Career and Technical Education (CTE) Top 3 students in every program.

Cajun music filled the air as the residents of Morningstar Residential Care Center donned colorful masks, beads and hats and enjoyed some jambalaya as they celebrated Mardi Gras in Morningstar’s Great Room.

At the February meeting of the local chapter of the American Association of University Women, curator Michael Pittavino of the H. Lee White Maritime Museum presented a talk on the Oswego Canal.

The Society of New Music performance will pair Leary’s composition with Charles Fussell’s “The Astronaut’s Tale,” a staged chamber opera modeled after Stravinsky’s “The Soldier’s Tale.”

All proceeds will go to support the local “Blessings in a Backpack” program in Mexico. Serving will start at 4 p.m. and continue until 6 p.m.

The event will be held at the new Community Arts Center March 22 from 7-9 p.m. and introduce Tom Rasely, accomplished fingerstyle guitarist eager to share his musical style with Central New York audiences.
