The Oswego County Legislature’s Health Committee presented a proclamation to the Oswego County Health Department in recognition of National Infant Immunization Week scheduled for April 21 to 28. The annual recognition began in 1994 to raise awareness about the importance of early vaccination when babies and young children are most vulnerable and before they are exposed to more than a dozen serious childhood diseases.
SUNY Oswego’s presentation of “Urinetown: The Musical” offers a satirical view on what many communities experience: official corruption, corporate greed and an ecological crisis.
The college’s spring musical will take the stage at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, and Sunday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, April 26 and 27, with a matinee finale at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28.
The Oswego County Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council will honor area emergency medical services providers for their outstanding patient care during its annual awards banquet on May 18 at the Oasis at Thunder Island, 21 Wilcox Road, Fulton. The evening begins at 6:30 with the dinner at 7:30 and award ceremony to follow.
SUNY Oswego music faculty members, alumnae and twins Evangeline and Elizabeth Canfield will perform four-hand piano duets in a Focus on Faculty concert at 7:30 p.m. April 20 in the Sheldon Hall ballroom. The Duo Canfield concert is free and open to the public.
State Senator Patty Ritchie and Oswego Health are offering an opportunity for community members to safely dispose of their unused and unwanted medications, including prescription and narcotic medicines, during a drug take back day. The event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. April 25 in the lobby of Oswego Hospital.
Representatives from the health system will hold open interviews for registered and graduate nurses on April 25 from 7 to 10 a.m. and from 2 to 5 p.m.at Oswego Hospital, 110 W. Sixth St.
April is national Child Abuse Prevention month, and Family Court Referee Thom Benedetto wants Oswego County residents to have a greater awareness of how prevalent and devastating child abuse can be both in our county and nationally.
The Oswego Elks Lodge at 132 W. Fifth St. will host a Mardi Gras-style casino night April 13 from 6-10 p.m. The event will benefit the Oswego County Children’s Fund, Inc., a not-for-profit organization that works year-round to ensure no child in Oswego County goes without gifts at the holidays.
Oswego County Opportunities Head Start Program will host its annual Community Literacy Night, featuring Pete the Cat. This event will take place at Head Start centers throughout the county on April 18.
