In helping to promote the Dignity For All Students Act, Quirk’s Players of G. Ray Bodley High School is taking a bold step. They will present the critically acclaimed production The Laramie Project this fall. The story is based on the kidnapping, assault and murder of Matthew Shepard, a 21-year-old gay college student in Wyoming.
I am not the chocolaholic in the family but while we were in Hershey John and I both received a Master’s Degree in Chocolate Tasting and have the diploma to prove it!
One of the many fun things to do at Chocolate World is their Tasting Adventure.
It is a multimedia presentation during which we learned to taste chocolate much like connoisseurs experience wine.
The SUNY Oswego theatre department production will open with a preview at 8 p.m. Thursday and run 8 p.m. Oct. 12, 13, 19 and 20, with a matinee finale at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 21, in Waterman Theatre of Tyler Hall.
Gardens like Hershey Gardens are wonderful places to visit. They appeal to people for all sorts of reasons. I enjoy the overall view of gardens appreciating the mix of flowers, trees and lawns, while John usually seeks out trees, especially bonsai, and others are interested in the individual blooms of the flowers
The 72 steps leading up to the Philadelphia Art Museum are called the “Rocky Steps” after Rocky’s run up the flight in the movie of the same name. It became symbolic of the ability of an underdog to triumph. Today, some tourists run up the steps in Rocky fashion. Others walk. The view at the top is great.
Classic tales of horror and suspense are the offering this Halloween season as Fulton Community Theatre proudly presents “Foretold Tales.” The production, featuring a quartet of one-act plays drawn from stage, old time radio, and pulp fiction will run weekends Oct. 19, 20, 21, 27 and 28 at the theatre’s home performance space, Jubilee Hall in Holy Trinity Church, 309 Buffalo St.
Two things are touted as being good for one’s health – walking and chocolate. John and I decided to get healthy by taking the Philadelphia Chocolate Walking Tour while in Philly. We met Shanna outside Reading Terminal Market, a foodie heaven with more than one hundred merchants vending all kinds of food items from fresh fish to Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches, and, of course, chocolate.
Based in part on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s books “A Scandal in Bohemia” and “The Final Problem,” the show will preview at 8 p.m. Oct. 11, and run at 8 p.m. Oct. 12, 13, 19 and 20, with a concluding matinee at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 21. All performances are at Waterman Theatre in SUNY Oswego’s Tyler Hall.
A new Arts Center, a new stage and now a brand new musical will premiere at CNY Arts Center. Yes, Virginia…The Musical, a new adaptation of the classic holiday story, will debut Dec. 7 and run through Dec. 16 for holiday audiences to enjoy.
John and I have been to Philadelphia several times in the past but every visit has been rewarding. Our recent trip left us with the desire to return again soon. There is so much to see and do in this place where America began. We stayed at the Omni Independence Park Hotel, which is not only a great hotel but it has an awesome location just steps away from most of the historic places.
