Oswego Lions Club Annual Wine, Beer Tasting With Silent Auction Set

The Oswego Lions Club will hold its 16th annual Wine and Beer tasting with silent auction March  21 at the American Foundry in Oswego. The event is scheduled for 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., with pre-sale tickets $15 and $20 at the door the night of the event. Pre-sale tickets are available at Cakes Galore or from any Lions Club member.

Practice Makes Perfect

With their wild west musical not receiving good reviews, dancers Bobby Pepper and Bambi Bernet fear that the show will close and the entire company will be out of work. The scene is from the comic murder mystery musical Curtains, performed by Quirk’s Players this weekend (March 7 and 8) at the Bodley auditorium. Friday and Saturday will be at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Barclay Supports Delaying Common Core Testing

Assemblyman Will Barclay voted to reform the controversial Common Core standards and curriculum. Assembly bill 8929 prohibits Common Core testing from counting against students’ permanent records or on teacher evaluation scores, but fails to delay these high-stakes tests or institute the type of long-term reforms necessary to remedy our education system.

Staff from Across St. Luke Family of Caring Show Support during MS Awareness Week

Staff from St. Luke Health Services joined colleagues at affiliates Bishop’s Commons, Michaud Residential Health Services and St. Francis Commons to take part in an organization-wide benefit for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, during National MS Awareness Week. For a monetary donation, staff “dressed casually” at work for the day in support of the National MS Society.
