Neighbors of ‘Problem House’ Offered Insight From City Officials

Last week, an entire first ward neighborhood came together to express fear for their safety and frustration in their dropping quality of life, allegedly stemming from a “problem house” in their neighborhood. In response, Fulton Police Chief Orlo Green III and FPD Investigator Stephen Lunn joined Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. and members of the Fulton Common Council to address misinformation and answer questions from neighbors in the West Second Street and Phillips Street area. The house in question, 102 W. Second St., is an owner-occupied multi-family property.

On this National POW/MIA Recognition Day 2018 (Sept 21,) the Fulton Veterans Council hosted a remembrance ceremony for all Prisoners of War (POW) and Missing in Action (MIA) service members as well as all victims of September 11, 2001. Emotions Run High As Neighborhood Battles Against House ‘Unfit for Occupancy’

An entire first ward neighborhood took a stand at Tuesday’s (Sept 18) regular meeting of the Fulton Common Council. One by one, neighbors of West Second Street South in Fulton addressed their pressing concerns with one troublesome house in their area. They detailed the drastic loss of quality of life in their neighborhood, all alleged to stem from one property: an owner-occupied multi-family unit that has been without water and power for months.

September 8's run highlighted Parents of Special Children. Leroy Collins is joined by Theresa Familo, director, and reps from Life Matters and POSC. Some friends heard about the runs and wanted to participate, Collins said. "They loved to run for that cause. I think there’s about 30 people that contacted me that heard about it and want to run in Mexico," he added.

Fulton Man Runs For Life – 5K At A Time

For Leroy Collins, life matters. And recently, he’s been running all over to drive home that message. “I started running 5Ks to bring awareness to the not-for-profit organization in different cities that do great work, but have limited resources,” he said. His efforts help bring attention to organizations that help fight homelessness, hunger, abuse and those that support education, cancer research, ALS research and others.

DeWitt Murder-Robbery Suspect Arrested in Fulton

A Syracuse man who allegedly killed two Chili’s Restaurant workers during a robbery at the Shoppingtown Plaza, DeWitt, business on Saturday was reportedly captured and arrested early today in Fulton. William D. Wood Jr., 32, was arrested at about 1 a.m., according to a report by the DeWitt Police Department.

Residents Weigh In at Fulton’s Fifth Ward Neighborhood Watch Meeting

Following several cries for help in restoring neighborhoods and ensuring security for homeowners, Fulton’s fifth ward has taken action by forming a neighborhood watch. After bringing to light homeowner concerns at recent common council meetings including suspicious activity in neighborhoods, suspected drug use, and negligent properties, fifth ward councilor Dennis Merlino set up a meeting to form a neighborhood watch program.

Car Chase, Crash Results in Volney House Fire

UPDATED Friday 7 AM
Six people have been transported to area hospitals following a car chase that resulted in a house fire, according to Oswego County 911 dispatch. A car chase beginning in the city of Fulton was called in at approximately 10:05 p.m. on Thursday, Sept 13. Some time later, 911 dispatch was alerted that the car had crashed and caught fire.
