Fulton Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. and Common Council president Donald Patrick Jr. have addressed a concerning public safety issue throughout the city. Several houses, they say, do not comply with city charter regulation under Property Conservation stating that all houses must have clear, visible house numbers. The issue is that of public safety, Patrick said.

Due to a 16th water main break near Canalview Mall on State Route 481 the water pressure at your home or business has been dramatically reduced and you probably have low pressure or no water at the present time. Therefore, the City of Fulton is issuing this precautionary boil water advisory to those affected on Rte. 481 between East Broadway and Utica streets and two buildings on Academy Street. A 2011 G. Ray Bodley High School graduate and Fulton native is serving in the U.S. Navy as part of the staff aboard Littoral Ship Squadron One, supporting one of the country’s most versatile combat ships. Petty Officer 2nd Class Thomas Butler is an information systems technician serving in N6 at Littoral Ship Squadron One in San Diego.
An information systems technician is responsible for keeping the ship’s communications, networks and computer systems up and running.
A water main break today (Feb. 12) has closed traffic in both directions on State Route 481 from Rochester Street to Oneida Street in Fulton. As crews are on scene, resolution to the issue can be expected by tomorrow (Feb. 13) morning, DPW Commissioner Charles Smith III said. Anyone traveling in this area can expect to take an alternate route.

The Fulton Common Council announced a public hearing to be held at the next regular meeting addressing several proposals. The public will have the opportunity to weigh in on six separate proposals. Two proposals are relative to raising animals within city limits as city officials look to amend Chapter 475 “Property Conservation” by adding chickens to the list of animals prohibited from living within city limits. “If we don’t have chickens, we wouldn’t have to worry about them running on the sidewalk,” Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. said. Several other proposals will be up for discussion.
The Fulton Recreation Center has entered the Kraft Hockeyville contest for the chance to win $150,000 in rink upgrades and the opportunity to host a pre-season NHL game. The contest relies heavily on community support, utilizing a Community Rally Page for members of the community to earn rally points toward scoring in the judging phase of the contest. Until March 11, community members are able to garner “Rally Points” by writing stories, adding pictures and videos, writing a note, reacting to others posts, or sharing Fulton’s Rally Page on Twitter.
The Fulton Common Council quickly moved through a busy agenda at Tuesday’s (Feb. 6) regular meeting including a resolution of respect, property sale, requests for proposals, several appointments, and the winning bid announcement for the construction of the city’s new salt storage shed. Boy Scout Troop 715 attended the meeting in order to earn merit badges, bringing several young faces to the meeting.
