The New York Landmarks Conservancy has announced 13 Sacred Sites Grants totaling $200,000 awarded to historic religious properties throughout New York State including $2,250 to State Street United Methodist Church in Fulton to help fund a conditions report.

On Wednesday, the New York State Police Special Investigations Unit concluded a joint investigation with the city of Fulton Police Department into the possession and distribution of untaxed cigarettes in the city of Fulton and surrounding areas. That resulted in the arrest of Miguel Espinosa, 46, LKA of 91 Somers Drive, Fulton

The city’s budding partnership with the state’s new Financial Restructuring Board for Local Governments has moved from application to discovery as Fulton city leaders learn more about the program and Albany’s administrators identify their model. The NYS Restructuring Board for Local Governments was staffed with 10 appointees last fall to make recommendations to qualified local governments on improving fiscal stability, management and the delivery of public services. The board is empowered to provide awards of up to $5 million per municipality.

Hannibal school personnel, community stakeholders, students and parents continued to lay the groundwork for the district’s future during a meeting recently among the Strategic Plan Committee’s three task forces. Divided into groups targeting student engagement, family/community engagement and academic achievement, the task forces delved into lengthy discussions to help develop a five-year blueprint for Hannibal schools.

Lisa A. Merritt, 51, of Fulton, was arrested after an investigation by the Fulton Police Department. According to police, Merritt is accused of engaging in sexual conduct with a person over the course of a two-year period starting when the victim was 14 years of age. These incidents occurred at the suspect’s home in the city of Fulton.
