At its regular monthly meeting tonight (June 26), the Cayuga Community College Board of Trustees approved the College’s 2013-14 budget, which includes a 3.5 percent, or approximately $140 a year, increase in tuition. The 2013-14 annual tuition will be $4,090 for full-time students, and the part-time rate will be $165 per credit.
The investigation revealed that the operator of the vehicle, Anthony J. Everett, 16 was operating a 2012 Ford southbound on US Route 11 when he struck the victim, identified as Michele Corsette, 24 who was walking southbound on the west shoulder of US Route 11.
The libraries – 15 in Jefferson County, six in St. Lawrence and four in Oswego County – will share $85,000 in special funding that’s in addition to a $4 million increase in state budget aid for libraries statewide. The Oswego County libraries are: Parish Public Library, Phoenix Public Library, Pulaski Public Library and Williamstown Library.

Through the Expeditionary Learning’s Common Core ELA Curriculum, FJHS students read the novel A Long Walk to Water and learned about a world that is on the continent of Africa, in the country of South Sudan, and during a time when children as young as six fled their villages and left their parents to escape war and starvation. In conjunction with the novel and classroom activities, former ‘Lost Boy’ Chol Majok was invited to share some of his personal experience with the students during a recent visit.

After many hours of “hardcore repairs,” new carpets, and tearing down old wallpaper in favor of paint, the Sunshine Community and Childcare Center held its open house on Sunday. It’s the brainchild of Jessica Naioti, inspired by the trouble she had finding reliable childcare for her son, Benjamin. Her hope is that Sunshine becomes the place kids want to be in Fulton, and will tell their friends about.
The Fulton Police Department recently welcomed its newest member, Meki, a 15-month-old Male German Sheppard. Meki, who was born in Holland, graduated K-9 training with the Syracuse Police Department on May 31, with his handler Officer Jarrett Marino. Meki is replacing Fulton Police K-9, “Rika,” who just retired.
