Hannibal’s school budget passed Tuesday by about as narrow a margin as you will see.

The budget was approved, 330-321, or 50.7% yes to 49.3% no.

“I really did not expect it to be so close.  That was a big surprise,” said Superintendent Mike DiFabio.

Hannibal’s Board of Education will soon begin the process of picking a new Superintendent of Schools.

The board is setting up committees that will help with the process.

Today, citizens who vote on the district’s budget proposal can also fill out a small form to indicate their interest in being part of the committee.

Fulton Mayor Ron Woodward wants to keep his job.  He announced his bid for reelection Monday, becoming the third person to announce plans to seek the office in November.  Alderman Tom Kenyon and Ralph Stacy, Jr. have already announced their intentions.

Members of the staff of Congressman Bill Owens come to Hannibal and Fulton Wednesday.  They’ll listen to your concerns and try to help solve some problems.

The only item of interest on an otherwise routine agenda is a proposed sale of city-owned property on Cayuga St.  The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Common Council chambers.
