The U.S. Army sends us this story today, about Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 Bob Cuyler of Hannibal. It’s amazing he’s still in the Army, considering that he had to have his entire colon removed. Cuyler now wears an ostomy bag, tied to his body by a tube. He thought he might be discharged after the surgery. Instead, his determination proved that he’s not only good enough for the Army, and he’s not only good enough for combat, but that his comeback and determination have proven to be an inspiration for others.
Some more April showers fell around the area on Tuesday. There might be some more here and there the rest of the week.

Fulton Police today (April 15) arrested Duane A. Makosky, 57 of 38 Birch Lane Apt. 47-D Oswego, for one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
UPDATED with comments from Assemblyman Will Barclay and Senator Patty Ritchie. After more than 100 years in Fulton, the Birds Eye Foods plant will cease to exist at the end of the year. Plant officials announced this morning (April 15) that the facility will close its doors for good in December. Employees got the news at a meeting at the Fulton War Memorial.

According to Fulton’s weather observer, the area received 0.78-inch of rain on April 13. However, today should be rain-free.
Hannibal’s Board of Education named the district’s next leader Wednesday.
He’s Edmund P. “Pete” Backus of Pulaski, a retired former Superintendent of Schools who has held short-term stints in the Mexico school district.
Backus will serve for an entire year, beginning in July.
