Hannibal Board Rejects Contract Extension for Superintendent
Here’s a rare thing: A Board of Education rejecting a contract extension for the Superintendent of Schools. That’s what happened in Hannibal, and it may mean the end of Superintendent Mike DiFabio’s tenure at the end of the next school year. Some of the reasons for the tension between administration and some board members was on display at a meeting Wednesday night.

Hannibal Budget Hearing Focuses on Cost of Contracts
Hannibal’s budget eliminates or downsizes 15 positions and raises the tax levy 2.99% in a year in which Gov. Paterson’s across-the-board education aid cuts will drain more than a million dollars from Hannibal. It cuts into the Reading First program credited with helping get the district off the state’s “in need of improvement” list, eliminates band for 5th graders and preserves varsity and modified sports.

Survey Says: Fulton’s High School Logo Will Be a Native American
More than 80% of those surveyed said that the icon should be a Native American.
The committee that tackled this issue will keep on working. Now, it will come up with some ideas for what the logo will look like.
The district will likely keep the block “F” logo you see at left for district-wide issues. The new logo will represent the high school and sports teams.
