He has defeated the incumbent to give the Republicans a 6-1 majority on the Oswego Common Council in 2008. Connie Cosemento of the First Ward is the only Democrat to win the election. Currently, the Democrats have a 5-2 advantage.
Those who have not yet applied for their property tax rebate still have time. The Legislature recently passed a bill during the October special session that extends the deadline to apply for the rebate from Nov. 30 to Dec. 31.
The public will have the opportunity to air its opinion tonight during a public hearing on the Fulton city school’s proposed $23.7 million capital project. The project — which encompasses improvements at all school district buildings for student safety, security upgrades, energy efficiency, technology, accessibility for disabled individuals, heating, food service and athletic facilities — is set to go before the voters in a referendum Dec. 12.
Beginning this morning, the Oswego County Board of Elections will start to count paper ballots that were submitted for the 2007 General Election. First on deck, the two candidates for the 11th District seat on the Oswego County Legislature will find out if the incumbent’s apparent loss from last week stands. Of the 12 races that will be counted today, the legislative district that primarily covers the town of Volney was the only legislative seat in the lineup.
