Mayor Billy Barlow officially swore in Phillip D. Cady as the Port City’s 21st Chief of Police. A huge crowd of family, friends and members of OPD filled the Council Chamber Monday night for the brief ceremony.

The Oswego County Tourism Office is encouraging everyone to join National “Plan for Vacation” Day on Tuesday, Jan. 28. The day is meant to inspire people to make plans for their vacation time and to promote using those days for traveling.

After being in school for 53 years, Oswego City School District Superintendent Dr. Dean Goewey is ready to graduate into retirement. Following his tenure as a student and a 36-year career working in the field of education, Dr. Goewey’s retirement was bittersweetly approved by the district’s Board of Education during its Jan. 21 meeting.

On 01/17/2020 at 9:04 a.m., members of the Oswego City Police Department were dispatched to 14 Draper St. for a burglary complaint.

A prosthetic hand printed and meticulously assembled by a digital humanitarian group of Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation staff will soon help a man in another country live a better quality of life.

With Mayor Billy Barlow excused, Council President Rob Corradino presided over the proceedings. The mayor will have plenty to do upon his return.
