Mayor Barlow Announces Speed Reduction Project On Syracuse Avenue

Mayor Billy Barlow announced today (June 26) a project along Syracuse Avenue that will slow vehicles down and improve the surrounding Sixth Ward neighborhood. Syracuse Avenue, on the east side of Oswego, connects to Route 481 coming into Oswego, and as a result, has historically seen vehicles speeding down the narrow neighborhood road.

OSWEGO COUNTY DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY DUE TO FLASH FLOODING

“Flash flooding has created dangerous conditions in the Town of Oswego, the City of Oswego, the City of Fulton, and other locations in Oswego County,” Legislature Chairman Weatherup said. “We ask people in these areas to be extremely cautious in traveling in these areas. Do not drive over flooded roads. People with life-threatening emergencies should call 911.”

Fair Housing Agency and Eight Women Settle Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Against Oswego Landlord

Today (June 19), CNY Fair Housing and eight women announced that a settlement has been reached in a federal civil rights lawsuit against Doug Waterbury, a landlord in the city of Oswego, and his corporate entities. Under the settlement agreement, Waterbury will be permanently barred from managing rental properties and will be required to pay $400,000 in monetary relief.
