The New York State Police is advising motorists to avoid any unnecessary driving during the winter storm that is forecast to bring a significant amount of snow to many areas across the state from Saturday into Sunday.

The city-wide parking ban will go into effect this evening (Jan. 17), until further notice, due to the weekend snow storm approaching. There is no parking on city streets from 1 – 6 a.m.

The state of the city of Oswego is strong. And, it’s getting stronger, according to the mayor. In 2019, he plans to propose to reduce the annual city sewer service bill by $200 for home owners, and focus on job creation and business expansion within city limits in 2019.

In honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day Sunday, Jan. 27, Musicologist Marilynn Smiley, Ph.D, will present a special program on the “Music and Musicians of the Fort Ontario Emergency Refugee Shelter.”

Wellhouse Ministries, Inc., was founded in 2015 as an organization to help meet the needs of terminally ill people living in Oswego County whose physicians have deemed they are within their last three months of life. The Black and White Masquerade Ball will be held at the American Foundry in Oswego on January 26.

At this week’s Administrative Services Committee, Mayor Billy Barlow requested permission to enter into an agreement and authorize funding the Wladis Law Firm to administer the SEQR process associated with the comprehensive zoning code re-write. The firm is best situated to administer the SEQR during the public discussion and finalization process later this month, the mayor explained.
