At about 9 this morning (Saturday, July 28), Oswego Police were dispatched to a call of a male who could be heard yelling in the area of East Second Street near Hubbard Street. Oswego Police arrived on-scene and tracked the subject to the bank of the Oswego River near Lock 7. The subject was located in the river.

Bubis Pleads Guilty To Assault, Unlawful Imprisonment

On Friday (July 27), Gary Bubis Jr. pleaded guilty to Assault 2nd and Unlawful Imprisonment 1st in Oswego County Supreme Court before the Hon. James McCarthy. Those were the two most serious counts in the Indictment against Bubis stemming from abuse allegations that occurred in the town of Albion in 2017.

Hundreds March In Annual Children’s Parade

Hundred of youngsters, their friends and families, marched from Breitbeck Park to the Novelis Family Park (West Park) on Friday in idyllic weather. The annual Children’s Parade is considered by many to be the official start of Harborfest. The parade drew an unofficial throng estimated at about 1,000 participants, from infants to adults.

Don’t Let Street Work Get In The Way of Harborfest Fun

Mayor Billy Barlow said he hopes everyone has a happy and safe Harborfest weekend in the Port City and doesn’t mind the condition of some city streets. The only street closure for Harborfest is West Schuyler Street between First and Second streets for the Midway, he said. “We will have one lane closure, northbound on West First at Bridge Saturday evening / night only to assist with pedestrian traffic at that intersection the night of the fireworks,” he explained.

Oswego Man Charged In Connection With A Slew Of Thefts In Scriba

On 7/26/18 at 12:10 p.m., Drew M. Pelkey, 27, of 131 Creamery Road, Oswego, was arrested for three counts of Petit Larceny, a class A misdemeanor. The arrest stems from the investigation into larcenies that occurred on 7/11/18 in the town of Scriba where items were stolen out of vehicles. He was also charged in connection with several other crimes.

Harborfest turned 31 on Thursday night. The festival was greeted by some clouds, humidity and some sprinkles. The hundreds of people, young and old, crowded into Breitbeck Park, didn’t seem to mind. Nik and the Nice Guys rocked the stage at 7 p.m. as the crowd continued to grow larger. Almost Queen kicked the party into high gear at 9 p.m.
