On May 27, at approximately 10:30 p.m., State Police stopped a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup truck on Blythe Road in the Town of Hannibal after observing the truck traveling west in the eastbound lane. While searching the vehicle, Troopers reportedly located a large amount of Crystal Methamphetamine and US currency.
Once again, dozens of people visited Veterans’ Memorial Park on Monday to honor and thank the men and women who fought and died for our freedoms. Members of the area veterans’ and service groups spent the early morning visiting various parks and cemeteries in Oswego and surrounding communities paying tribute to our nation’s veterans. A few onlookers, several with flags and cameras, lined the parade route from West Park to Veterans’ Memorial Park shortly before 11 a.m. They applauded as the group marched by.
The accident happened around 11 p.m. on Saturday (May 28) in the town of Theresa in Jefferson County. Jenny Bush, 33, of Parish, died following the one-vehicle crash on Cottage Hill Road.
A full-sound test of new emergency notification sirens for the 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone surrounding the nuclear power plants in Scriba will be tested at 1 p.m. on June 7, Dale A. Currier, Director of the Oswego County Emergency Management Office, announced.
The New York State Police and local law enforcement across the state will be increasing patrols to combat impaired and distracted driving this Memorial Day weekend. The initiative starts today, May 27,and runs through May 30. Memorial Day is one of the busiest travel holidays of the year and police will be out in force to remove impaired and reckless drivers from our highways.
On Tuesday (May 24), at approximately 9:30 a.m., State Police in Pulaski responded to a burglary complaint on Fravor Road in the town of Mexico. The residence was illegally entered and a military Purple Heart medal was taken from the residence.
Oswego students wear red noses to share a few laughs and to help out the needy in the district. Funds raised through the event will be donated to the Human Concerns Center.
The second person involved in a shooting earlier this month turned himself into authorities on Monday. On May 13, at approximately 9:20 p.m., State Police in Pulaski responded to a call of person with a gunshot wound at a residence, 3510 County Route 22 in the town of Orwell.
A joint investigation conducted by the New York State Police in Pulaski, the New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the U.S. Department of the Army, Criminal Investigation Command, resulted in the arrest of 25-year-old, Blake A. Bryant from Pulaski, for (1) count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, a class “D” felony and (2) counts of Possession of Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “E” felony.
As you know, Oswego County is home to three of the state’s six nuclear power plants – James A. FitzPatrick and Nine Mile Point I and II. Nuclear generation is engrained in our history and a big part of who we are in Oswego County.
