At 3:44 p.m. Monday (May 16), sheriff’s deputies arrested Joseph D. Bagley, 49, of 2650 Wise Road, Apt. A, Cato, for first-degree rape, a class B felony and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
The Common Council will consider a resolution next week to hire an organization to help create a plan to upgrade the Eastside Wastewater Treatment Plant so it meets DEC requirements. Mayor Billy Barlow requested council consideration of a pact regarding an Assessment Management Plan for the plant. The plan will enable the city to move forward responsibly with upgrades to the facility.
Oswego Expeditions will offer a free guided history tour from Oswego to the Oswego County Tourism Ambassador Program in Brewerton May 23. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at 916 Riverside (formerly the Castaways), 916 County Route 37, Brewerton. The program will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m.
On May 13, at approximately 9:20 p.m., State Police in Pulaski responded to a call of person with a gunshot wound at a residence, 3510 County Route 22 in the town of Orwell. When troopers arrived they discovered William A. Willson, 57, from 106 Park Drive in Rome, with a gunshot wound to the buttocks.
On May 9, at approximately 4 a.m., State Police responded to a burglary in progress on County Route 64 in the town of New Haven. When troopers arrived, the victims had detained one of two suspects found loading their property from their garage into his vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
At 1:18 p.m. Thursday (May 12), Earl J. Wilson, 78, of 4196 CR 4, Oswego, was arrested for three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony; second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a class D felony; and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
The focus of the planned events will be to provide an informal, comfortable setting for residents to raise their concerns, ask questions and provide suggestions to the mayor and police chief on the issues facing the community.
Passage of the two state bills would correct a problem caused by five of its members not signing their oath of office cards in time. The Minority opposed the measure calling it a political favor for a select few. The vote was split along party lines.
At 9:40 a.m. today (May 12), a hand written note indicating a bomb threat was located by school employees at Oswego Middle School. The decision to evacuate the school was made all students and staff have been evacuated and are safe. Law Enforcement is currently searching the school.
