The School of Business’ online master’s in business administration program at Oswego came in at No. 22 in the educational services company’s recent ranking, based on surveys last year of business school administrators and nearly 2,000 students enrolled in programs at 80 business schools.
This time, it was only a drill. The exercise focused primarily on the hospital’s ability to effectively respond to incidents that would involve mass numbers of chemically contaminated patients self-reporting to the hospital. The the drill was being observed and evaluated by members of the Oswego City Fire Department and the Oswego County Fire Coordinator’s office.
At this week’s Common Council meeting, the mayor cast the deciding vote on a request for a waiver of the noise ordinance. Councilors granted five variances of the noise ordinance. The request from Mr. and Mrs. Robert McGrath, proprietors of Spencer’s Ali, 124 W. Second St., garnered all of the attention.
The Oswego County Health Department has received a small amount of Shingles vaccine from the New York State Department of Health to be distributed to Oswego County residents who are uninsured or who have insurance that doesn’t cover the cost of the vaccine.
State Senator Patty Ritchie is once again teaming with Oswego County health officials and educators to raise awareness and help fight the deadly mosquito-borne disease, Eastern Equine Encephalitis, or EEE. This week, Senator Ritchie distributed more than 20,000 EEE educational flyers to all nine Oswego County school districts.
Brian Colombo, owner of Xtreme Underground in Oswego, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor in Oswego City Court on Tuesday. Columbo was facing four counts of Pharmaceutical Mislabeling from August of 2012. In August 2013, he was charged and pleaded not guilty that September. The charges stem from the 2012 raid where Oswego Police were looking for misbranded drugs – synthetic drugs.
Oswego Harborfest will come alive with the sounds of “Aerosmith,” “Dave Matthews Band” and “Chicago” this summer. Three highly sought after cover bands will be rocking the NRG Lakeview Stage in Oswego’s Breitbeck Park. These musicians are anything but ordinary and the sound is true to the legendary artists as “Draw The Line,” “Big Eyed Phish,” and “Brass Transit” will be shaking up the NRG Lakeview stage.
Amy M. Tresidder has announced her candidacy for mayor of the city of Oswego. Currently serving the city’s taxpayers as a county legislator, Tresidder, a Democrat, has been dedicated to community service in Oswego for more than 30 years. Her campaign is focused on efficient and accountable city government, stimulating economic development, and revitalization of the city’s neglected neighborhoods and infrastructure.
The Oswego County Drug Task Force recently arrested four people in three separate cases. They are facing a variety of felony drug charges.
The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and Oswego County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate an officer involved shooting that occurred on Friday, May 8, on Auringer Road in the town of Constantia.
