Aerial spraying of the remainder of the central Oswego County target area was completed on Saturday, August 9. The entire target area encompassed approximately 22,775 acres in portions of the towns of Hastings, Mexico, New Haven, Palermo and Volney.

Aerial spraying of a large portion of the target area in central Oswego County took place Friday evening, Aug. 8, to reduce the mosquito population and the threat of EEE. The entire target area encompasses approximately 22,775 acres in portions of the towns of Hastings, Mexico, New Haven, Palermo and Volney. Weather permitting, the remainder will be finished on Saturday, Aug. 9.

The Oswego County Health Department announced today (Aug. 8) that the David C. Webb Memorial Park Bathing Beach on Oneida Lake in the town of Constantia has been re-opened to swimming.

U.S. senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand and U.S. Representative Dan Maffei today (Aug. 8) announced that the town of Volney has been awarded $532,000 in grant funding and a $1,428,000 loan through the Department of Agriculture Office of Rural Development. The town will use the funds for infrastructure projects to build new water mains bringing clean water to residents in the community.

Citing his years of experience as a Family Court Referee and a long record of community service, Thomas Benedetto is conducting a door-to-door campaign for Oswego County Family Court Judge.
A lifelong resident of the Amboy area, Benedetto brings 30 years of experience in the legal field, many years of service to local communities, youth and families, and extensive judicial experience as a Family Court Referee and legal advisor for Family Court judges.

The Oswego County Health Department plans to conduct aerial spraying of approximately 22,775 acres in portions of the towns of Hastings, Mexico, New Haven, Palermo and Volney Friday and Saturday evenings, Aug. 8 and 9, depending on weather conditions. The aerial spray will begin after 6 p.m.

2014 marks the 30th year the Zonta Club of Oswego has presented the Amelia Earhart Woman of Achievement Award to a woman who has dedicated herself to making a difference in her community and serving as a role model to other women. Earhart began her career as a social worker and a member of Zonta before she made history flying across the Atlantic Ocean. On this special anniversary of the award, it is befitting that this year’s recipient, Diane Cooper-Currier, is also a social worker and a prominent leader in the health and human services sector in Oswego County.
