City Officials Ask Residents To Not Block Streets

The recent snowfall and narrowing of some streets has made it difficult and challenging to get DPW Equipment as well as fire apparatus through some streets, city officials report. DPW Commissioner Michael Smith, Police Chief Tory Decaire and Fire Chief Jeffrey McCrobie urge residents whenever possible not to park directly opposite other vehicles on these streets.

The Oswego County Tourism Office, in collaboration with Jefferson, Onondaga, Cortland and Broome counties, announced the launch of the 81exits.com mobile website. The website developed by Syracuse agency ABC Creative Group uses geolocation to find “where to stop when you’re on the go.” This definitive exit-by-exit guide to nearby gas, food and lodging also includes attraction recommendations and descriptions for each community along the I-81 corridor.

Oswego Warms Up For Annual Festival

A youngster holds up a prize she found in the Treasure Hunt in the Snow eventOver the weekend, the Port City celebrated what the area is best known for – Winter. 2014 marked the ninth annual Warm Up Oswego festival. The YMCA adopted the festival in 2006 in order to raise money to renovate the Armory and to create more programs. Temperatures lingered in the teens Saturday and the windchill made it even colder. But hundreds of people braved the weather in and around the Oswego YMCA Armory. Throughout the afternoon, hundreds of people wandered around the Armory to check out the vendors’ wares and watch the various demonstrations and performances.

Distinguished Canadian Historian Team will Share Perspectives at Oswego 1812 Symposium

Donald E. and Dianne Graves will share their research and historical analysis of the War of 1812 April 5, at the Oswego War of 1812 Symposium.  Dianne will discuss the lives of civilians along the St. Lawrence River - Lake Ontario frontier during the war, while Donald will recount the ill-fated British attack on Fort Erie. The Graves are among Canada’s foremost historians of the War of 1812.
