Road Closure/Detour Notification Posted In Oswego
The Mayor’s Office has announced that J.J. Lane, the contractor for the on-going Combined Sewer Separation Project, has provided the following road closure/detour details for the week of December 9, weather permitting.
Meth Lab Investigation Results In Three Arrests
Three arrests have been made as a result of the investigation into a possible methamphetamine lab at 196 Syracuse Ave. Oswego. As a result of the subsequent search warrant execution several one-pot or “Shake and Bake” methamphetamine laboratories and associated materials were seized. Additionally seized was in excess of 10 ounces of methamphetamine oil.
Drop A Postcard Challenge Delivers at Pontiac Terrace Apartments
Mike Moss of Oswego took the ‘Drop A Postcard Challenge’ to the Pontiac Terrace Apartments Community Room on Sunday. Drop A Postcard Challenge was created in May of 2011 and is ongoing to ensure that all residents of assisted living and nursing homes receive mail.

Third graders showed off their technology skills at Wednesday’s Oswego school board meeting. They are learning skills today that will help them in the careers of the future, according to their teacher.
Fulton Man Charged With Rape, Other Felonies
On Tuesday at 3:40 p.m., Timothy J. Paternoster, 32, of 273 MacDougall Road, Fulton, was arrested for two counts of third-degree sexual abuse, a class B misdemeanor; two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor; third-degree criminal sex act, a class E felony; third-degree rape, a class E felony; and two counts of second-degree criminal sale of marihuana, a class D felony.
Possible Meth Lab Investigation Under Way
The Oswego City Police Department is currently investigating a possible Meth Lab at 196 Syracuse Ave. The Police and Fire departments are currently on scene investigating. Syracuse Ave between South Division Street and Lawrence Street will be closed until further notice.
November 2013 was cooler, wetter than normal
November 2013 was cooler and a tad wetter than average, according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service. The average temperature last month was 38.9 degrees. That is 1.7 degrees below average. Total precipitation for November wound up at 0.12-inch above average.
Alternate-Side Winter Parking Restriction To Be Used In Oswego
The purpose of this change was to offer options to those who otherwise have no alternate parking solution. This year, we will again be utilizing the “Alternate-Side Parking Restriction” during the winter months; however, discretion will be used in imposing the restriction until weather conditions require it. It will be publicly announced when it is imposed.
Mayor Presents Proposed 2014 Budget To Oswego Councilors
The tentative spending plan for the coming year is $34,574,842 for all funds. That is an increase of 14.2 percent compared to the original fiscal year 2013 budget of $30,112,264. The mayor says a tax increase might hurt now. “But, if we don’t do it, it’s going to hurt a whole lot more down the road,” he added.
