A fresh face to Oswego’s political scene, Barlow is no stranger to the city or the Fifth Ward. Representing the fourth generation of his family to live in the Fifth Ward, Barlow recently returned home from Arizona St. University.

Suicide Prevention ‘Stride to Save Lives’ 5K Walk/Run set September 21

Suicide is a national public health crisis. It is the second leading cause of death among 15- to 34-year-olds and the third leading cause of death for 35- to 44-year-olds. A local organization, SAVE – Suicide Awareness Voices of Education – is planing a couple of events in hopes of lowering those statistics and raising awareness. “Stride to Save Lives” will be held at the college on Sept. 21. On Sept. 20, Kevin Hines talk at First United Methodist Church of Fulton. The suicide survivor will also be the keynote speaker for the “Stride to Save Lives” community 5K Run/Walk.

Oswego County Completes Portion of Aerial Spraying

Aerial spraying of a portion of the target area in central Oswego County was completed on Monday, September 9. The entire target area encompasses approximately 15,000 acres in portions of the towns of Mexico, New Haven, Palermo, Scriba and Volney. Weather permitting, the remainder will be finished tonight, Tuesday, September 10.
